Adam Auto Works specializes in Virginia emissions repair. If your vehicle failed its Northern Virginia emissions inspection, we diagnose the actual cause — check-engine codes, oxygen sensors, catalytic converters, EVAP leaks, EGR faults, misfires — repair it to factory specification, and get you ready for the re-test.

  • Check-engine light diagnosis
  • Oxygen and air-fuel sensors
  • Catalytic converters
  • EVAP system leaks (loose gas cap to purge valves)
  • EGR valves and passages
  • Misfire and fuel-trim corrections

Virginia state safety inspection

We are a licensed Virginia state safety inspection station. Bring your car in for the annual inspection Monday through Saturday; most inspections are done while you wait. If something fails, we explain exactly what and why, give you a written estimate, and can complete the repair and re-inspection the same visit.

  • Annual Virginia safety inspection
  • Brakes, tires, steering, and suspension check
  • Lights, wipers, horn, mirrors, and glass
  • Exhaust system and fuel system
  • Same-visit repair and re-inspection

Computer diagnostics & drivability

Our diagnostic system reads all makes. We pull codes, look at live data, and test the suspect part before recommending a repair — so you pay to fix the problem, not to guess at it. Drivability complaints, intermittent faults, electrical and charging problems, and fuel-injection issues are everyday work here.

  • Check-engine and warning lights
  • Engine performance and drivability
  • Electrical and charging-system diagnosis
  • Fuel-injection and fuel-system diagnosis
  • Oil-leak and coolant-leak diagnosis
  • Battery testing (we test batteries free)

Brake noise, pulling, pulsing, or a soft pedal gets checked the same day whenever we can. We replace only what has actually worn: pads and rotors, calipers, hoses, and fluid; shocks and struts; control arms, tie rods, ball joints; CV axles and boots; wheel bearings and hubs.

  • Brake pads, rotors, calipers, and fluid flush
  • Shocks and struts

FAQ

Good to know.

Does servicing my car at an independent shop void the warranty?

No. Under federal law (the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act) a manufacturer cannot void your warranty because maintenance was done at an independent shop. We perform every service to factory standards and specifications, keep records, and use dealer or OEM-quality parts, so your warranty stays intact.

Do you give written estimates?

Yes. We diagnose first, explain what we found, and give you a written estimate before any work begins. If something else turns up during the job, we call before proceeding.

What parts do you use?

Dealer parts and OEM-quality aftermarket parts, depending on the repair and your preference. We tell you which is being used and why.

Can I drop my car off after hours?

Yes. Night drop is available — leave the key in the drop box with a note describing the problem and your phone number, and we will call you in the morning.

Where are you located?

In the Elmwood Court business park in Sterling, Virginia — 45759 Elmwood Ct, Unit 125, minutes from Route 28. Convenient to Ashburn, Herndon, Reston, Dulles, and Leesburg.

Call the shop. Talk to the people who do the work.

Written estimate before any work. Same-day service whenever the schedule allows. Saturday hours and night drop for busy weeks.
